H. Wingfield Glover, Jr.

H. Wingfield Glover, Jr., known as “Wink” to his friends, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He received a B.A. degree in political science from Mississippi State University in 1960, served two years as an artillery officer in the United States Army, and returned to law school at the University of Mississippi in 1962, graduating in 1964. Following graduation, he moved to Meridian, Mississippi, to join the law firm of Wilbourn, Lord & Williams. After three years, he was made a partner, and the law firm’s name changed to Wilbourn, Williams & Glover. In 1975, the senior Mr. Wilbourn died, and David Williams and Mr. Glover established their own law firm, known as Williams & Glover. Mr. Glover has been a partner in that firm as it has operated under several different names since 1975. He is now the senior member of Glover, Young, Walton & Simmons, PLLC.

Mr. and Mrs. Glover have two sons, the older of whom has a master’s degree in taxation and practices law in this firm. The younger son is in sales in Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Glover recently retired from teaching social studies and economics to the twelfth grade at Meridian High School, but she remains active in public education in Meridian.

Mr. Glover has more than 45 years of experience, predominantly in the fields of civil litigation, probate and estates, real estate, and hospital law. He has trial experience and appellate experience in the state and federal courts.

He is a fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, has served as president of the Lauderdale County Bar Association, and was an officer in the Young Lawyers Division of the Mississippi State Bar. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association. He enjoys an "AV" rating, the highest possible, from the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell lawyer rating system.

He has been active in civic affairs as well as in bar associations, where he has served on various committees, including the Ethics Committee of the Mississippi State Bar. He has been a civic leader in Meridian, having been president of the United Way, president of the Rotary Club, president of the Grand Opera House of Mississippi, and president of the Greater Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and he has served as president of the Mississippi Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He formerly served on the board of Hope Village for Children. He was selected as Outstanding Young Man in Meridian in 1971 and was named the recipient of the Individual Arts Patrons Award for 1991 by the Meridian Council for the Arts. He was active in coaching Little League baseball and Jaycees football when his boys were younger.

He is active in his church, having taught Sunday school for many years and served on many committees, including terms as chairman of the Trustees, chairman of the Council of Ministries, and chairman of the Administrative Board, and as Lay Leader.
