Ronnie L. Walton
Ronnie L. Walton, a Carthage native, has been a member of the Meridian law firm of Glover, Young, Walton & Simmons, PLLC, since 1976. He received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1971. Prior to entering law school in 1973, he worked as a chemical engineer for Milliken & Company, one of the world's leading textile and chemical companies. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi in 1975. While in law school, he was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He received the Dean Parham Williams Outstanding Law Student Award his senior year in law school. Ronnie has 34 years of experience, predominately in the fields of civil litigation (primarily on the defense side), commercial and residential real estate, and wills and estates. He has trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts ranging from State Justice Court to the Federal Court of Appeals. A partial list of the types of cases that he has litigated include those involving motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice claims, eminent domain, railroad-crossing collisions, electric-line contact injuries, insurance bad-faith claims, products-liability claims, employment-discrimination claims, fire losses, chemical contaminations, lender liability, will contests, real-property disputes, and contract disputes. He served four years as a Municipal Court judge for the City of Meridian. Ronnie is “AV” rated (the top classification) by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell lawyer rating system. Ronnie is a fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. He has served as president of the Lauderdale County Bar Association and president of the Young Lawyers Section of the Lauderdale County Bar Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association. Ronnie has served on and chaired numerous Bar committees through the years. He has been elected by his peers to two terms on the Board of Bar Commissioners from the Tenth Circuit Court District and served on the Executive Committee of The Mississippi Bar. He has chaired the Law School Liaison and Education and Professionalism committees of The Mississippi Bar and the Economics of Law Practice Committee of the Young Lawyers Division. He has also served on the Budget and Finance Committee, Elections Committee, and By-Laws Revision Committee. Ronnie has been a leader in various civic, educational, and charitable organizations on both a local and a state level. He is a director and secretary of the Phil Hardin Foundation. He is the president of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi. He has served as national president of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association, president of the Lauderdale County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, president of the Meridian Kiwanis Club, president of the Meridian Symphony Association, and president of the Lauderdale County Chapter of the American Red Cross.He was appointed by former Mississippi Governor William Winter to serve on the Board of Directors of the Pat Harrison Waterway District and was subsequently elected as its president. He also served two four-year terms as a member of the Mississippi Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Development. In 1983 he was named Meridian's Outstanding Young Man of the Year. Ronnie is an active member of Central United Methodist Church. He has served as church Lay Leader, delegate to the Mississippi United Methodist Conference, and chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and Music Committee. He is a member of the Administrative Council, adult choir, and handbell choir, and has taught an adult Sunday school class since 1982. Ronnie’s wife, the former Dianne Partridge of Meridian, retired as associate dean for enrollment services at Meridian Community College. She was appointed by former Governor Ronnie Musgrove to the Mississippi Arts Commission and served as chairperson. She is a current board member of the Southern Arts Federation. She is a member of the Mississippi Civil Rights Education Commission, which has been charged by the Mississippi Legislature with providing assistance and advice to elementary through high schools with respect to the Civil Rights Movement and human-rights education and awareness programs. She was appointed by former Governor Ray Mabus as a member of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning. She is also a former public-school mathematics teacher. Dianne and Ronnie have two sons, Tyler, a graduate of Millsaps College and Mississippi State University who is employed by Trustmark National Bank in Destin, Florida, and William, a graduate of Mississippi State University and culinary school at Johnson & Wales University. William is employed as an executive chef in Vail, Colorado. Ronnie has 34 years of experience, predominantly in the fields of civil litigation (primarily on the defense side), commercial and residential real estate, and wills and estates.
