Bill Hammack was raised in Quitman, Mississippi. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law (J.D. 1972). Bill began his practice in Meridian in January 1973 with the firm of Bourdeaux & Jones.

Bill maintains a general practice and has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts across the state. He practices in civil litigation, public sector and municipal law, commercial litigation and products liability defense. Bill handles and advises clients in commercial transactions. Bill has obtained an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell and has been inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Lauderdale County Bar Association (President 1978), American Bar Association, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association. Bill is recognized in "Mid-South Super Lawyers" (Civil Litigation Defense).

Bill is a past President of the Meridian Lauderdale County Chamber of Commerce and is an active member of First Christian Church. He has served on the board of several local charitable organizations. Bill is married and has two children and three grandchildren.
